MAKING IT HAPPEN FOR MANHATTAN

Performance: 7:00pm Charleston Ballet Theatre, located at 477 King Street 

The performance will be a world premiere play written by PURE’s own co-founder Rodney Lee Rogers. Mr. Roger’s new work is entitled “A Journey to Center.” It is the story of a new priest, in a small Southern town, who is torn as to if he should come forward with the confession of child sexual-abuse in the 1940’s.

This night of folly and great performing is to benefit PURE’s The Made in Manhattan Project, a semester long course that teaches local Lowcountry high school students how to become young playwrights.

It is the story of man named Arthur Przybyszewski, who owns a decrepit donut shop in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. Franco Wicks, a black teenager, is his only employee. Franco has dream to change the shop for the better. This comedy-drama by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize–winning author Tracy Letts explores the challenges of embracing the past and the power of friendship.
